		<description>The subway route could preserve everything the way it is right now in 2010 and still would be a success. The corridor has all the development and then some for the ridership it needs.

Each Purple Line train would do the work of about 6 Line 720 buses. The biggest benefit is that a subway extension would free up bus hours from Wilshire and parallel east-west streets and reallocate them to north-south services.

Also, development of any kind -- transit-oriented or not -- is going to be murky. The collapse of the 2000s real estate bubble has effectively poisoned the well for development for at least a generation.</description>
